MAKING CASTILE SOAP (COLD and HOT) – SAPONIFICATION
Materials:
- 200 grams olive oil
- 5 grams NaOH (soda coastic)
- 66 grams distilled water
- Beaker, Bunsen burner, stirring rod, tripod and wire gauze.
Procedure:
- After step 4 in the cold process, place the beaker on a tripod with wire gauze to heat.
- Stir the mixture almost 1 hour and 30 minutes while heating.
- When it becomes like a dough cool it down.
- Then place the soap in molds.
- Wait about 24 hours until it becomes hard and dry.
- Then soap is ready to use, remove it from the mold.
- Dissolve 25.5 grams of NaOH in 66 grams of distilled water.
- Cool it down as much as you can touch.
- Put 200 grams of olive oil in a beaker.
- Add NaOH solution into olive oil beaker.
- Stir this mixture until it becomes highly condensed like dough.
- After dough consistency place it in molds.
- Wait about 24 hours until it becomes hard and dry.
- Then soap is ready to use, remove it from the mold.
