MAKING CASTILE SOAP (COLD and HOT) – SAPONIFICATION

Materials:

  • 200 grams olive oil
  • 5 grams NaOH (soda coastic)
  • 66 grams distilled water
  • Beaker, Bunsen burner, stirring rod, tripod and wire gauze.

Procedure:

  1. After step 4 in the cold process, place the beaker on a tripod with wire gauze to heat.
  2. Stir the mixture almost 1 hour and 30 minutes while heating.
  3. When it becomes like a dough cool it down.
  4. Then place the soap in molds.
  5. Wait about 24 hours until it becomes hard and dry.
  6. Then soap is ready to use, remove it from the mold.
  1. Dissolve 25.5 grams of NaOH in 66 grams of distilled water.
  2. Cool it down as much as you can touch.
  3. Put 200 grams of olive oil in a beaker.
  4. Add NaOH solution into olive oil beaker.
  5. Stir this mixture until it becomes highly condensed like dough.
  6. After dough consistency place it in molds.
  7. Wait about 24 hours until it becomes hard and dry.
  8. Then soap is ready to use, remove it from the mold.
